With so much to see and do in the Northwest of England, we have combined a number of well-known favorites including a guided tour of Liverpool, a visit to the National Trust’s Erddig and a relaxing barge cruise.
Thursday: From local pick-up points, we travel to Cheshire and our friendly hotel in Warrington where we will be welcomed, and our luggage taken to our rooms.
Friday: We take a leisurely and informative barge cruise on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal today. From the comfort of the spacious wide beamed barge cabin we enjoy the views, wildlife and local heritage of Wigan, Leigh and the Douglas Valley. After the cruise we make our way to Oswaldtwistle Mills for a little retail therapy before returning to the hotel.
Saturday: A trip into North Wales takes us to the National Trust’s Erddig, where we explore a much-loved home, garden and estate filled with the stories of a family and their servants, the garden features extensive lawns, trained fruit trees, exuberant annual herbaceous borders, avenues of pleached limes, conical topiary, and a Victorian parterre bedding display.
Sunday: Today we travel to Liverpool where we are joined by a guide as we explore this vibrant city before spending the remainder of the day at leisure here.
Monday: After breakfast, we depart the hotel and make our way back home to East Anglia.
